About FTFT

Why this website exists

I built this site for hikikomori and people who are unsure, along with their parents and siblings. It has a safe-places map, an archive of first-person accounts, and more.

I have a sibling who is hikikomori. For years my family felt our way forward in the dark, and the whole time I kept thinking, “I wish a site like this existed.” So I decided to build it myself. You can live under the same roof and still have no one able to put into words what anyone is feeling. This is meant to be a place where, at times like that, you can quietly reach toward what the other person is going through.

FTFT is a place for parents, siblings, and the person themselves to better understand other family members' views. I believe that with just a little understanding, a family suffering apart can become a family walking together, no matter how hard the season. I have watched my own family's ups and downs from the closest seat there is. If anything I experienced or learned there can be of even a little use to someone else and their family, that would mean a lot to me. I hope it makes your road a little softer.

Thank you for reading. Please, take your time. There's no need to rush. Tanu-chan is always on your side.
